omnibus station
Germany, Swabian-Hall, 2009
concept
The omnibus station forms the new entrance to the city centre and is the most important intersection for commuters that switch between car and public transport. The folded roof construction completely cladded with photovoltaic modules generates spacious weather protection and not only makes self-sufficient lighting possible but also produces a surplus of over 100,000 kWh/a that then can be fed into the city's power grid.
structure
The folded steel roof rests on a steel framwork structure that is stiffenend by steel ridges to become a self-supporting body.
